With their own development of processes, the KIMW initiates new technological developments in the plastics industry. The know-how supports the customer with the following issues:
- Guidance throughout the process from the product idea to large volume production
- Shortening of process chains by means of process combinations
- Introduction of new processes as far as series readiness
- Development and modification of injection moulds by means of new technologies
- Process automation
- Implementation of assembly processes into an injection mould.
The process development department provides support from designs that are appropriate for plastics to the material selection and the manufacturing of sample tools and corresponding moulded parts including their testing. The current activities include the following areas:
- Tightness testing and assistance with selecting the appropriate equipment
- Encapsulation of inserts (e.g. electronic components, lead frames, bobbins, etc.)
- Back injection of solid metal with plastic
- Use of adhesive agents and primers
- Generation of a media-tight joint by encapsulating inserts
- Manufacturing of injection moulding prototypes
- Cable extrusion
- Hybrid technology
- Practical implementation of inductive tool heating
- Encapsulation of sensitive, electrical component
